T-ara - Roly Poly In Copacabana [MV]

Apparently here is a new music video for T-ara and their song "Roly Poly In Copacabana". This essentially is the 4th video T-ara has released to promote their song "Roly Poly". While the first two videos were essentially recuts of the same video, the third was a compilation of videos of fans performing the dance for Roly Poly. Now for "Roly Poly In Copacabana", a lot more changes have been made. The song itself has been remixed into more of a Eurodance sound. What exactly is Eurodance? I don't really know how to explain it to you, but think of something along the lines of Initial D music and Dance Dance Revolution. Basically, the song has a faster more driving beat and more of an 80's techno dance feel than the original disco concept for "Roly Poly". Personally I think it's a good remix of the song, but at the same time I think it takes the song out of it's original disco/John Travolta theme. Though it still has retro dance club feel to it. Though I still say the new instrumentals remind me of Initial D and DDR.

Now for the video itself, the girls of T-ara ditch the disco look for a retro high school girls concept. Which I'm not really sure if it fits with the song, but somehow the girls make it work. Throughout the video their wardrobe is either a retro school uniform or PE/Gym clothes. Essentially the video just focuses on the girls performing the "Roly Poly" choreography in a old high school. You see them dance in a classroom, hallway, a locker room, and outside the school. Interestingly enough, instead of Hyomin's usual dance solo, we get the girls doing para para style dance moves. Yes, that's right they bust out a para para dance in this video. Though for the most part, the video is just a straight forward showcase of the "Roly Poly" dance in new clothes and a new location.

Though with that said, there are a couple interesting things to point out. For example, not that I'm complaining, but for some reason Hyomin is the only girl with her uniform unbuttoned. I don't why it's unbuttoned or why she or video producers decided this, but it's there in plain sight. In fact, this version also has Hyomin front and center for the beginning half of this video. Also just like part 2, Jiyeon is chewing gum and giving a rousing performance that makes her come off as bored. I mean she seems like she's the most bored person there and it shows in her performance. Also the what the f*** moment has to go to Hwayoung staring down Soyeon's shirt. I mean sure, I guess girls in high school were curious about each other that way, but this is still very random. Also the fact Soyeon is a willing participate is even more perplexing. But whatever, the girls for the most part seem to be having fun with themselves in this video.
