It has come to my attention that Evangelion 2.22 was released on blu-ray yesterday. For those who are unfamiliar, Evangelion 2.22 is the 2nd installment in a series of movies that give an alternate take on the events of Neon Genesis Evangelion tv series. The TV series itself takes place in Tokyo in a world that devastated by a tragedy known as the second impact. Here a group of young pilots must use giant biomechanical mecha called Evangelions (EVA) to fight beings referred to as Angels. The fate of mankind rests on these pilots and their ability to combat the Angels that threaten Tokyo-3. I could go deeper but you really should watch the series yourself. This also reminds me again that I'm still missing the last DVD of my Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Edition Set -___-". Apparently I never got around to buying it and they don't sell it individually anymore.
For the sake of posting, here is also a trailer for the first movie, Evangelion 1.11 which completely went under my radar.
While I'm not sure how these movies are compared to the original series, these still look like something interesting to add to a blu-ray collection.
